Safety In Perspective

Safety is part of our life, irrespective of where we are at this point of time either with our loved ones at home, in the office, at the field (work site), backyard gardening for some, at the kelapa sawit farm, buying provisions, in a swimming pool, kedai kopi, having a drinking session with fellow friends in the bar/pub, crossing a busy road, in the shopping mall, parking our vehicle, having a BBQ, jogging along the road, biking, doing minor home repair/maintenance, tending to your dogs / fish aquarium, having shower, in the kitchen cooking, housework, on the wheel, holiday/vacation or rather airborne aboard the aircraft/plane. All those are just the daily obligation or some may say ... "its the routine buddy, life as usual. Days in, days out kind of affair, cari makan ma".

In hind sight, had we not think about inherent harm that can befall upon us while in the course of satisfying those obligatory activities? Have we wondered that those activities we indulged in, has to some extend involving risk? Our acts and behaviors are at time can trigger harm. In the context of safety, every individual are very likely to cause an accident. Why is that...? Its human behavior.

In our daily busy routine, most people tend to be complacent, reckless in what they are doing, overlooked without counter checking, lackadaisical attitude that nothing will happen, taking short-cut disobeying rules, ignoring some of the basic fundamental rule of personal safety. This very much sounds like, we are at risk behavior and what needs to be done is to educate, motivate, instill greater awareness, eliminate the "At Risk Behavior", set example, think on the consequences or impact and find means to root out/eradicate in the manner in which we can achieve to control our behavioral act.
If we failed to manage poor behavior, it will in turned managed us.

Situation and condition out there can be very harsh and hazardous without us even knowing or recognizing it. At times, we made poor judgment or there are things that we don't know can harm us. Bad things does happened, a situation can go wrong when the least expected ....as the saying goes in Murphy's Law. For some, would just brush it aside having a thought, it's just a bad luck. A few indeed thought it as ...."he was at the wrong placed and at the wrong time, that's it, end of the story, accident happened to everyone". Yes, it does, human created it, the biggest culprit with due respect. The question comes mind ...who?, what?, when?, where and how? Who's fault is it? There are always the root cause(s) to all accidents that occurred. Accident can never happened by itself, but human does.

Safety as it sound, is of paramount important ever since and we heard and seen safety campaign/promotion or had seen a huge safety slogan displayed on the billboard over hung by the entrance gate leading to the work site or on the factory premises depicting....."SAFETY FIRST" being widely emphasized. With the existing legislated laws, acts, standards, rules already in placed that governs all issues relates to health, safety and environment, other set of legislated laws or By-Laws as well are also in the system merely to protect/prevent harm to people, property and the environment.

As everyone does, wake up in the morning, open eyes and would soon enough jump out of bed, first thing look into the mirror seeing Mr. or Mrs SAFETY .... that's YOU man. Aaaah...! Thanks God, for giving me another day and that I am still alive this morning. Then we start anew hoping that very day would bring abundance, who knows receiving a promotion note or a pay rise, might expect payment in dividend gained on ROI, etc. How nice that would be, its feel really good though.

What about our every day personal safety? The very question should be considered here ...How can I or my family get hurt today and how to prevent harm? How might we assure that we or our family are out of harm's way or in safe hand? We read news after news of road traffic accident, fallen tree crushed on people/property, landslide damaging home/property, trench dug/erected in middle of the road without physical barriers, unguarded manhole in vicinity of populated housing estate, stray dogs rampaging on garbage, bush fire, floods, crime committed of heinous in nature like statutory rape on minor, robbery and murder, snatch thief, car thieves, street fighting, assault causing harm, child runs over by reversing vehicle and many more. Some could have been unaccounted for or may have gone unreported.

Everyone's life get even more insecure these days. Do we really need to beef up our own personal security at home? Yes..! absolutely. There are several means which I personally believe some of us had taken steps on this issue in an attempt at least to reduce the impact or rather to deter a situation.

Do we recognized we are completely surrounded or living imminently in danger of inherent risks/hazardous exposure through someone's negligence, a condition/situation, breathing polluted air, inhaling harmful dust/fumes airborne particulates, foods that we consume daily contained chemically enhanced additives/preservatives, engaging/leading unhealthy life-style or involving in at risk activity.

In a couple of weeks or so, I will be putting up as much posting as I possibly can on matters touching safety, health, environment and personal security too upon my return from abroad for the benefit of all readers/blogger or
those aspire to undertake safety role.

YouBeing Safe out there is what matter most and that of your loves one as well.
